ISIDA DERVISHHANI
Christmas in the Caribbean
Turquoise waters hum carols
in minor keys
their tides suddenly remind home.
The cheerful sun, unwrapped again,
glows like a gift I never wished for.
Even the birds seem unaware
of winter’s silence elsewhere.
I miss the terrible snow of the north,
and the laughter
of those I love.
